Who runs this site

The data controller is Aashna Jain, operating as Unpacked With Aashna, based in Delhi, India. For anything to do with your data, write to hello@unpackedwithaashna.com.

The contact and advisory forms

The forms on the contact and advisory pages ask for your name, your email address, optionally your company, and a free-text message. The speaking enquiry also asks for event details.

Submissions are stored in this site's own database, hosted in Singapore on the platform the site is built on (Lovable Cloud), and read only by Aashna through a private admin page. They are used solely to reply to you. They are not added to any mailing list.

Enquiries sent through the contact or advisory forms are kept for 24 months from our last exchange, then deleted. If an enquiry becomes a client engagement, the related correspondence is kept for as long as the engagement requires and for any period a tax or contractual obligation demands.

Where the GDPR applies, enquiries are handled on the basis of legitimate interest in responding to someone who has contacted us (Article 6(1)(f)), and newsletter signups on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a)), withdrawable at any time through the unsubscribe link in every issue. Where India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies, both are handled on the basis of the consent given when the form is submitted.

The newsletter signup

When you enter your email in a newsletter box on this site, the address and the page you signed up from are stored in this site's own database. The address is not forwarded to Substack when the form is submitted, and there is no automated batch sync. Any addition to the Substack publication is done manually. The copy on this site is retained until you ask for it to be deleted. The newsletter itself, The Unpacked Memo, is delivered through Substack, which processes addresses added to the publication under its own terms and privacy policy. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link.

Analytics

The site runs its own first-party, cookieless measurement. It records an event name (for example how far down an article you scrolled, or that an outbound link was clicked), the page it happened on, and sometimes a short label. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser for this purpose, and records no IP address, device fingerprint or visitor identifier, so individual visitors cannot be told apart. Searches typed into the fundamentals library are logged as the query text and result count only.

No Google Analytics, advertising pixel or third-party tracker is loaded.

Stored on your device only

The fundamentals library remembers which articles you have read, and whether you prefer the card or list view. That is kept in your browser's local storage, never sent anywhere, and can be cleared with the "reset progress" control on the library page or by clearing your browser data.

Embedded services

Videos are embedded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode and only load after you press play. The booking page loads Calendly when you open it. Each of those services applies its own privacy policy once you interact with it.

Asking for your data, or for deletion

Email hello@unpackedwithaashna.com from the address you used and ask. Enquiries and site-list signups can be deleted on request. For the newsletter, the unsubscribe link in any issue removes you from Substack directly. We respond to deletion and access requests within 30 days of receiving them, at hello@unpackedwithaashna.com.

How personal data is used

We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build advertising profiles.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

International processing

If data is processed outside your country, it is done under the safeguards the relevant law requires.

Complaints

Readers in the UK or EU may complain to their local data protection authority; readers in India may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

If we change this policy, the date at the top changes. Material changes will be noted on the page.
